The first Incognito studio was named "Bump city" and was located in a studio complex in Wessex (not far from where Bluey lived). Before this, the recording and mixing equipment had to be carried around between different commercial studios, but now it could stay in one place. The Wessex studio was not a very fancy place but quite functional. This was in '91, after the release of "Inside life" and they were currently working on the new song "Crazy for you" which appeared on a later re-release of the same album. Both "Tribes, vibes & scribes" and "Positivity" was mainly recorded in Parkgate Studios, Battle.
In '93 Incognito moved to a new studio in the Trident 2 complex (Victoria). Here, "100 and rising" was recorded and the following year, "Beneath the surface" was recorded. These two studios were no "real" studios in the sense that they did not have their own live area where drums, brass, vocals etc. could be properly recorded. Instead, Bluey & co usually started out in the studio by writing and composing and then used commercial studios to record the music, after which they could go back to the studio again to mix it.
